For more than 35 years, Gaetano “Guy” Calise has dedicated his life to helping young people grow into resilient, responsible, and purpose-driven adults.

As an educator, mentor, consultant, leadership expert, and international speaker, Guy has spent decades working alongside students, parents, teachers, and school leadership teams to strengthen character, accountability, emotional resilience, and practical life readiness.

But long before he ever stepped into a classroom, Guy’s story began with adversity.

Raised in an environment where he learned early that nobody was coming to rescue him, Guy discovered that resilience, responsibility, and personal growth are built one decision at a time. Those experiences shaped not only the man he became, but also the mission that now drives his work.

"I became the person I needed when I was growing up."

That belief became the foundation for a lifelong commitment to mentorship, leadership, and helping others discover their own strength.

Throughout his career, Guy has:

Deeply Rooted in Montessori Education

For more than three decades, Guy’s work as an educator and leader has been shaped by Montessori principles of independence, responsibility, purposeful work, community, and the development of the whole person.

An AMI-trained Montessori educator at both the Elementary and Adolescent levels, Guy spent 23 years teaching ages 6–12 at Countryside Day School in Northbrook, Illinois. He later served as Director of Middle School, where he designed and developed an adolescent curriculum and learning environment while teaching mathematics, general science, U.S. history, and world history for 12 years.

His Montessori experience extends well beyond the classroom. Guy has developed educational and staff training programs, led curriculum innovation, supported teachers and administrators, facilitated leadership retreats, and worked extensively in classroom management, conflict resolution, team building, and school community development.

That experience gives Guy a unique ability to speak to the challenges facing Montessori communities while remaining grounded in the larger question that has guided his entire career:
